Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At the age of 27, he enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark at which he graduated in 1995. Apart from his performance in the drama series The Killing as well as his appearance in Borgen III, a Danish drama series. He played the role of Charles Augustus Magnussen, a blackmailer, in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock. In the American television series House of Cards, he played the role of the president of Russia. In 2018, he was awarded an International Emmy Award for his character as the president of Russia in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. It was shown in the UK in the year 2019. According to Mikkelsen's statement, he was taught English from his brother through listening to Monty Python recordings and watching the comedy sketches.
